TIME TO TRY A NEW SPORT THIS SUMMER ON THE CENTRAL COAST
October 29, 2008Sport and Recreation Minister Kevin Greene is urging people on the Central Coast to get involved in a new sport this summer.
Mr Greene said the NSW Government is offering beginners lessons in a range of sporting and recreational activities over the next two months.
"The extra hours of daylight at this time of year make it easier to get outdoors and try a new sport," he said.
"The NSW Government is offering introductory lessons for several sports during November and December, and they're a great way to get fit and try something new.
"As well as learning new skills and improving fitness people have a chance to meet new friends and have a lot of fun in the process.
"Mixing up your routine can make exercise more fun so I'd encourage people to take advantage of this opportunity to learn a sport like golf, surfing or horse riding."
Mr Greene said the programs are offered through the NSW Dept of Sport and Recreation, and include learning to sail a yacht, play golf, learn tennis, how to surf, self defence skills and beginner/intermediate horse riding skills.
